Campus Life

Dalian Royal School (DRS) is an independent, private international boarding high school located in Dalian, China. Combining the strengths of Chinese and Western educational traditions, we are dedicated to fostering students’ holistic development.

Since its establishment, DRS has emerged as a leading international school in Northeast China. Originally founded as Dalian Yangguang School, it became a branch of Beijing Royal School (BRS) in 2018.

BRS, established in 1996, is a pioneering international institution with overseas offices in the US, UK, and France. Between 2003 and 2006, BRS established the first Cambridge International Center in Beijing and was recognized as the College Board’s only AP Teaching Demonstration School in China.

Safeguarding

A Culture of Vigilance and Care

At Dalian Royal School, the welfare of the child is at the center of all decisions and actions.

Purpose & Objectives

To ensure all learners feel safe, respected, and protected; to define clear procedures for responding to concerns; to promote proactive prevention through training; and to align with local laws and international best practice.

Guiding Principles

  • Child-Centered: The welfare of the child is paramount.
  • Equity & Inclusion: Equal right to protection.
  • Shared Responsibility: All adults share collective responsibility.
  • Confidentiality: Clear protocols and transparent records.

Identification & Reporting

All staff are trained to recognize physical, emotional, or behavioral indicators of abuse. Any suspicion or disclosure must be reported immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), who investigates, documents, and consults with external agencies as needed.

Safe Recruitment & Training

DRS ensures all staff and volunteers undergo comprehensive background checks, mandatory safeguarding interviews, and sign a Code of Conduct. Annual refresher training and specialized modules on online safety and mental health are mandatory for all staff.

Organizational Roles

The DSL (appointed annually) oversees policy implementation and record-keeping. Deputy DSLs support case management. All Staff must report concerns immediately and model ethical behavior. Volunteers/Contractors undergo checks and are supervised at all times.

Support & Response

Immediate action is taken to protect the child from further harm, providing medical or psychological support. Ongoing counseling is offered through the Student Affairs Office, with collaboration from mental health professionals and social workers as appropriate.
